Chair 1 - 30" x 30"
Chair 1 - 30" x 30"
Hidden deep within the Kingdom of Japan on the island of Hokkaido is an incredible ski resort with an abandoned chairlift. Neglected and left exposed to the elements, this chairlift accumulates snow all winter, making a statement both about man’s relationship with nature and the ways we measure snowfall. While some ski resorts use a snow stake, measuring snowfall in inches or centimeters, this iconic photo represents what every skier dreams of, and every lift operator fears, a monster storm - and the promise of chest deep powder.
This 36” x 36” piece is 1 of 1. Mounted onto wood, and placed inside of a mould, this photograph was coated in epoxy resin with silver micah pigment and hand painted with black acrylic paint to accentuate minute details in the snow’s texture . Notice that when the light catches it just right, the piece comes to life, sparkling and glistening - just like fresh snow.
This piece weighs 33lbs and is mounted with a French Cleat. Local delivery is available in Park City for free, and shipping arrangements can be made worldwide.
